Centrul National pentru Dezvoltare Durabila (CNDD) a fost creat in anul 1997, sub egida Academiei Romane, ca agentie a Programului Natiunilor Unite pentru Dezvoltare (PNUD).

Din 2001 s-a transformat intr-o fundatie independenta, extinzandu-si activitatea.

Din anul 2009, Centrul National pentru Dezvoltare Durabila elaboreaza si pune in practica proiecte cu finantare din partea Uniunii Europene si a Guvernului Romaniei.
